Please remember that every animal available for adoption through Foxx and Hounds - Iowa Basset Rescue is fully-vetted for it’s age and only needs routine preventive care. Dogs older then 6 months of age are heartworm tested. All dogs are kept on heartworm preventative. Every dog is vaccinated (age appropriate), micro chipped, and wormed, in addition to being spayed/neutered. We are asking for interested parties to fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire, prior to setting up an appointment, by emailing us at iabassetrescue@yahoo.com or going to our own other website at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/IA154.html and filling out a pre-application form prior http://iowabassetrescue.org/.html to visiting the animal(s) at the animal’s home. For more information on our adoption procedures, such as requiring adopters to travel to central Iowa to pick the animal up when approved to adopt. Iowa Basset Rescue does not ship animals; we do adopt out of state without an approved vet reference on letter head by mail and by phone calls . We do have other rescues help us out with our out of area home visits but most of the time we do them ourselves. The IBHR team members are as follows: ANNE DEAN and KEN LUCKEY in Washington, Iowa area . BECKA and ELLIE GWINNER of Council Bluffs, Iowa area MIKE and CINDY FOXHOVEN of Sioux City, Iowa area, Iowa area THOMAS & JESSICA ARNBURG in Belton, MO .
Animals reside at area shelters, or with their owners, or temporary adoption homes who are checked on and approved before adopting and are seen by appointments with their care providers.
Adoption fees vary from animal to animal depending upon the veterinary care that has been provided to the animal while in the rescue, and age. ( Most of our adoption fees are between $125 and $325. ). Also when you adopt we do tell you the money goes directly on another basset hound in the rescue who needs care. We do not pocket the money. If you need to  bring back the dog there is no refund of adoption fees. It's donated to help another rescued basset and it is tax deductible . We can exchange a hound for another that is available for adoption, we want to get a perfect fit for the animal and the family. We are a not for profit 501C3 organization. LICENCED in the states of IA , MO, K.S and MN. If you need more information PLEASE CALL 712 204 9807 or email us
